This is luxury with a conscience.

TIDES was founded in 2007. It's genesis based upon it's parent company with over 20yrs. experience in architectural metal fabrication and fine furniture manufacture. TIDES products are proudly designed and meticulously manufactured in Brooklyn, New York. Our furniture and planter products add an element of architectural elegance to any environment whether it be commercial or residential. The quality of our products ensure they will be a lasting part of any environment for many years to come.

Locally made of Stainless steel and FSC certified Ipe, the Tides collection is part of a tight closed loop system, making it one of the most ecologically responsible designs in the current marketplace.

Stainless steel

One of the world's most durable and strong materials with excellent corrosion resistance, stainless steel is typically 70% recycled and is 100% recyclable, rarely ending up in landfills due to its high value as a raw material.

Ipe

Ipe is an incredibly strong, dense wood with high wear durability that resists rot, decay, insects and mold without the use of toxic chemicals.

Tides only uses wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, a not-for profit organization which guarantees that the wood is from sustainable, managed forests and does not contribute to global forest destruction.

After a long and plentiful life span, Tides furniture can be disassembled. The steel can be recycled into new useful objects and the wood can be repurposed or biodegraded into nutrients for growing trees, thus closing the loop of sustainability.

TIDES Materials:

Stainless steel and Ipe where chosen as materials due to there natural qualities that make them durable and timelessly beautiful.

Locally made of stainless steel and FSC* Ipe (pronounced ee-pay), the TIDES collection is part of a tight closed loop system, making it one of the most ecologically responsible designs in the current market place.

Ipe is an incredibly strong, dense wood with high wear durability that resists rot, decay, insects and mold without the use of toxic chemicals. Ipe is also Class A fire rated, the same as concrete and steel.

Natural checking, small fissures along the grain may appear in Ipe, but does not affect the strength or structural integrity of the material. Ipe requires no sealers, treatments, or chemical preservatives to keep it durable and beautiful, and if left un-oiled, Ipe will gradually age to a luxurious silver patina.

TIDES only uses wood certified by the *Forest Stewardship Council, an international not-for profit organization which guarantees that the wood is from sustainably managed forests and does not contribute to global forest destruction.

Stainless steel one of the world's most durable and strong materials with excellent corrosion resistance it is typically 70% recycled and 100% recyclable. It rarely ends up in a landfill due to it's high value as a raw material.

TIDES Furniture uses T-304 stainless steel in it's normal production. However TIDES strongly recommends in a coastal environment T-316L electropolished materials. This is provided with a slight upcharge.

Electropolishing is a "bathing" process, which combines an acid solution with electrical current to remove microscopic burrs from the surface of stainless steel and other alloys, leaving a bright lustrous finish. Unlike electroplating, which adds a layer of material to the surface, electropolishing is the controlled removal (within .0001") of inconsistent surface material. Passivation, which is a natural by-product of electropolishing, makes the surface corrosion resistant. Perfect for coastal environments.

After a long and plentiful life span, TIDES furniture can be returned to our factory for recycling or reconditioning.

Care and Maintenance:

TIDES uses a product called Penofin TM, a hardwood oil applied to our products to highlight the rich natural tones inherent in the wood. To help prolong this look, oil should be applied when the wood appears dull or matte. Once every 3 months in mild climates and when needed in harsher ones. Please note that with periodic oiling the wood will silver patina over time. As Ipe is a natural product, slight variations in color my occur, only complimenting it's beauty. Re-oiling is recommended after cleaning with fresh warm water and soap.

Regular cleaning of stainless steel, use fresh warm water and soap once monthly or once weekly in a coastal environment to remove any environmental deposits. Stainless steel cleaner can also be used.

Regular cleaning of powder coated aluminum, use fresh warm water and soap once monthly or once weekly in a coastal environment to remove any environmental deposits.

Do not use any abrasive cleaning products or water pressure machines on our products.

Fabrics:

TIDES cushions are available in 8 standard colors. Cushions are poly-filled and covered with zippered weather, mildew and fade resistant sunbrella TM fabric. Sunbrella TM fabric should be cleaned regularly before substances such as dirt, environmental particles, etc., are allowed to accumulate on and become embedded in the fabric. The fabric can be cleaned without being removed from the installation. Simply brush off any loose dirt, environmental particles, etc.; hose down and clean with a mild solution of natural soap in lukewarm water (no more than 100 degrees F.) Rinse thoroughly to remove soap. DO NOT USE DETERGENTS. Allow to air dry.

TIDES strongly recommends moving cushions inside during the winter season and in inclement weather conditions.
